Evil by vmcampos Evil by vmcampos
I photographed this field during the winter of 2007, while on my trip to Sinaloa, Mexico. The original was in color; it had very nice greens and blues. I wanted to, however, make some sort of black and white image from it. As I played around with the individual channels, and inverting colors, I found some interesting tones emerging.
The final image is two layers; one is black and white with a red filter (all via PS CS3), the other is the same but with colors inverted, the part masked out to show the layer below. The image was then tightly cropped to focus on the lone tree, and seemingly endless row of crops.
Conceptually, I get a sense of uneasiness and dread.
